On Proverbs 4

v1 Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father
v10 Hear, my son, and accept my sayings
v20 My son, give attention to my words

What is so striking is Solomon's desire that his son hear and follow his advice. All of the wisdom of Proverbs is useless if not heeded. God wants me to benefit from all this wisdom as well. What a loving Father!

  1. The strong (4-fold) caution against sin is what struck me this morning: “Avoid [the evil path]; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.” - ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:15‬. Avoid it. Don’t get on it. Turn away from it. Move along past it. He must mean it.

  2. Solomon seams to draw from his experiences from his father and mother when he was young. His education was important in gaining wisdom in verses 3 and 4. "When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother, Then he taught me and said to me, "Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live;"
