On Proverbs 17

v 28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise;
When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.

It is so easy to try to 'out talk' someone. I've seen wisdom demonstrated through silence more often than in any other way.

  1. Prov 17:3: “The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts.” Help me to pursue wisdom and store it up in my heart, so that, when my heart is tested in God’s crucible, He will bring forth pure gold.

  2. Josh,
    Your comment remonds me of something I’ve heard you say before. “What comes out when you squeeze a lemon?...Whatever is inside.”

  3. v28 reminds me of a sign I use to have in my room when I first started teaching..."Better to remain silent and thought a fool, then to speak out and remove all doubt."
