On Proverbs 8
v10-11Take my instruction and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choicest gold.
For wisdom is better than jewels;
And all desirable things cannot compare with her.
All through Proverbs, wisdom is presented as a treasure. Solomon, who was probably richer than Bill Gates and Warren Buffet combined, says over and over that wisdom, understanding, and knowledge are better than all kinds of material wealth. It seems remarkable that wisdom is available for the taking - offered freely from the Bible and godly sources - but so many people would rather seek after silver, gold and jewels. Chapter 8 is another reminder that wisdom is far more valuable than material possessions.
Pro 8: Here we see Wisdom on her evangelical mission to reclaim this fallen, sinful world, calling people away from evil, particularly in the forms of pride, arrogance, and perverted speech. - Prov 8:13
